Handmade Metal Jewelry- Making a Necklace with Purple and White Colors
Summary: This handmade metal jewelry project presents to you a way about making a necklace with an elegant mixture of purple and white colors.
The pendant I made for this handmade metal jewelry tutorial is quite like the Chinese traditional longevity locket pattern; but my preliminary idea is to emphasize the modern colors contrasts and display them on a classical piece. Making a necklace has never been this simple!
Materials and tools:
1.5mm purple aluminum wire
0.3mm purple copper wire
10mm light purple glass pearl
8mm white glass pearls
Head pins
Round nose pliers
Flat nose pliers
Wire cutter
Instructions:
Step 1: make clover units
1st, pick a piece of purple wire and make a loop at center;
2nd, with round nose plier, respectively loop left and right end;
3rd, cut off extra wire and in the same way make another 3 units.
Step 2: assemble them into a longevity locket pattern
1st, hook the clover units with each other;
2nd, pick a piece of copper wire, and fix one end on a clover;
3rd, slide a bead on the wire and secure the other end;
4th, do coiling over adjoining and overlapped parts;
Step 3: finish the necklace
1st, prepare 5 glass pearl focals;
2nd, attach them to the 5 loops on the bottom part;
3rd, with a jump ring hang the pendant onto a piece of chain;
The final look is like below:
The handmade metal jewelry is done! Also, when working with wire, you should put safety first. When making the necklace- I carelessly pricked the copper wire under my thumb fingernail, and it really hurt! So be careful and happy crafting!
