Supplies in making the Chinese style seed bead lantern drop earrings:
6mm Red Faceted Glass Beads
3mm Purple Glass Seed Beads
5cm Gold Bugle Beads
12mm Red Acrylic Beads
Iron Jump Rings
Iron Earring Hook
Fishing Wire
Flat Nose Plier
Scissors
Instructions on making the Chinese style seed bead lantern drop earrings:
Step 1: Bead the basic tube bead pattern
1st, thread 2 gold tube beads through the fishing wire and slide them to the middle;
2nd, through one end through the tube bead on from the other end;
3rd, thread the fishing wire through the needle, then through the needle through another tube bead;
4th, thread the wire through the other end of the previous tube bead, thus making the wide tube bead piece.
Step 2: Add purple seed bead on the sides of the tube bead piece
1st, repeat the procedures in step 1 until you finished 8 lines of the tube bead pattern;
2nd, thread 11 purple glass seed beads through the needle, then through the 2nd tube bead in the piece as shown;
3rd, now the wire is on the other side of the tube bead, thread it through 11 purple seed beads as well, then through the 6th tube bead in the same way.
Step 3: Continue to add purple seed beads
1st, thread the needle through 16 purple seed beads, then through it through the first tube bead;
2nd, continue to thread 16 purple seed beads through the needle and then thread the needle through the last tube bead;
3rd, thread the needle through 9 purple seed beads, a 6mm red faceted glass bead and 9 purple seed beads.
Step 4: Add a cross on the tube beads piece
1st, thread the needle through the 5th tube bead, then add 9 purple seed beads to the needle again;
2nd, thread the needle through the red faceted glass bead, then add 9 seed beads to the needle as well;
3rd, thread the needle through the 3rd tube bead to the other end;
4th, add beads in the same way and make the cross ornament on the tube piece.
Step 5: Add red acrylic drop to the lantern
1st, thread the needle through about 30 purple seed beads, then thread the wire through the seed bead on the sides of the tube bead;
2nd, thread the wire backward through along the beads to the middle of the seed bead, add a purple seed bead, a 12mm red acrylic bead, a seed bead, a 6mm faceted glass bead and 4 purple seed beads to the wire;
3rd, thread the wire backward through the 12mm acrylic bead, the seed bead and the 6mm faceted glass beads, add 4 seed beads through the needle, then thread the wire through along the seed beads on the previous line.
Step 6: Make the upper link for the earring hook
1st, thread the needle through 30 purple seed beads, and connect the seed bead wire to the seed bead on the side of the tube piece;
2nd, thread the wire through along the beads to the middle part, add 5 purple seed beads, a 6mm faceted glass beads and 5 purple seed beads to the wire;
3rd, thread the wire backward through the 4 seed beads and the 6mm glass bead;
4th, thread the wire backward through the red glass bead and tighten the wire;
5th, add another 4 seed beads to the wire, then thread the wire through along the seed beads on the previous seed bead link.
Step 7: Finish the Chinese style seed bead lantern earrings
1st, hook the jump ring to the purple seed bead hoop;
2nd, connect the earring hook to the lamp drop with jump ring;
3rd, repeat the whole process to make the other piece of earring to make a pair.
