How to Make a Charming Ocean Inspired Glass and Pearl Beaded Collar Necklace

It has been a long time since I used cat eye beads to make jewelry crafts last time. Today I picked some blue cat eye beads, blue glass drop beads and some seed beads to start my DIY project – Ocean style beaded collar necklace. Let's check the details together.

Supplies in making the ocean inspired glass and pearl beaded collar necklace:

8mm Blue Cat Eye Beads
11x8mm Blue Faceted Glass Beads
4mm Blue Glass Pearl Beads
2mm White Seed Beads
0.3mm Tiger Wire
Iron Jump Rings
Iron Lobster Clasp
Scissors
Long Nose Plier

Instructions on making the ocean style glass and pearl beaded collar necklace:

Step 1: Bead the necklace strand

1st, cut a piece of tiger wire (about 110cm), and slide 4 4mm blue glass pearl beads to the middle;
2nd, cross the left end of the wire through the last pearl bead and tighten, thus you've made the basic pattern of the necklace strand;
3rd, thread 2 blue pearl beads through the left wire and a pearl bead through the right wire, then cross both wires through another blue pearl bead and tighten;
4th, repeat above procedures to bead more basic patterns for the necklace strand until you've finished a proper length that fits your neck;



5th, add a white seed bead to each space between 2 4mm blue pearl beads in the inner fringe of the necklace strand till the end and finally trim off the extra wire.

Step 2: Bead blue cat eye bead and seed bead wave pattern

1st, cut a piece of tiger wire, thread it through the 2nd blue pearl bead from the top;
2nd, thread the left end through a cat eye bead while the other end through 3 seed beads, the blue pearl bead on the strand, plus 3 seed beads and finally thread through the next blue pearl bead;
3rd, slide 9 seed beads on the left wire, 3 seed beads on the right wire, then cross both wires through a blue cat eye bead and tighten;



4th, thread the left wire in the picture through the next blue pearl bead, 3 seed beads, the blue pearl bead on the strand, 2 seed beads, a blue cat eye bead in sequence;
5th, slide 9 seed beads on the right wire and thread it through the cat eye bead and tighten up;
6th, repeat above procedures and finish the whole wave pattern for the necklace.

Step 3: Add blue glass drops ornaments

1st, cut a piece of tiger wire, thread it through the beads on the strand as shown;
2nd, slide 6 seed beads, a blue glass drop bead and a seed bead on the wire, then thread the wire backward along the glass drop bead and the seed bead;
3rd, thread the wire through 4 seed beads and 8 seed beads on the previous wave pattern, add 6 seed beads, a blue glass drop bead and a seed bead again;
4th, thread the wire backward along the glass drop bead and a seed bead, plus 4 seed beads, and thread along 8 seed beads on the previous pattern;
5th, repeat above patterns to finish the blue glass drop ornament.

Step 4: Add the outer seed bead layer

1st, cut a piece of tiger wire, fix it on the necklace strand by threading it through along the beads;
2nd, slide 25 seed beads on the wire, then thread it through the seed bead on the next drop pattern as shown;
3rd, add 25 seed beads on the wire again, thread it through the seed bead on the next drop pattern, repeat this procedure to finish the seed bead layer.

Step 5: Finish the whole ocean style beaded collar necklace

1st, attach an iron jump ring to each end of the necklace by hooking it to the pearl bead respectively;
2nd, connect the ends of the necklace with a lobster clasp.

With time and efforts, I finally finished this charming ocean style glass and pear beaded collar necklace!

It seems that it requires much beading technique to finish this charming beaded ocean inspired collar necklace, but in fact, you will only need some basic beading skills in making it. I add wave pattern and drop pattern, plus an outer layer in this necklace, making it more formal. If you desire a simple necklace to wear on the beach, just leave alone the extra ornaments.
