Needle Tatting Patterns on Making Your Own Butterfly Earrings

Materials needed in making needle tatting earrings:

Nylon Thread Cord
0.5MM Copper Wire
Earring Hooks
12MM Colorful Acrylic Beads
4MM Silver Lined Glass Seed Beads
4MM Inside Colors Glass Seed Beads
6MM Austrian Crystal Beads

Instructions for making needle tatting earrings:

Step 1: Tat the knot for the needle tatting earrings

1st,cut off a 150cm nylon thread cord and a 50cm copper wire, then make a fast knot on copper wire with nylon thread cord as picture shows;

2nd, make a forward knot around the copper wire, and then make a backward knot; this is a completed square knot;

3rd, use a pin to fix the nylon thread cord, and continue to make twelve square knots;

4th, make a loop, and twist wires at the end, then continue to make four knots;

Step 2: Thread two wires and a nylon cord to a colorful acrylic bead, and make loops to fix the tatting part on the acrylic bead, and then thread wires and nylon cord back to the hole.

Step 3: Make half wings of butterfly for needle tatting earrings

1st, continue to make six square knots;
2nd, add a seed glass beads to the nylon cord every three square knots, remember in total add three seed glass beads; and then continue to make 12 square knots;

3rd, wrap the wire at the edge of acrylic beads to form a wing;

4th, make the second wing in the same method, remember to make 13 square knots to add a seed bead, continue to make 3 square knots to add a seed bead, and then make 3 square knots to add a seed bead, at last make 13 square knots.

Step 4: Make the body of butterfly for the needle tatting earrings

1st, continue to make 16 square knots, slide three seed beads onto nylon cord, add an Austrian crystal bead, and add three seed beads again;
2nd, if you find the nylon cord isn’t long enough, you can take another one to continue make 16 square knots, and then wrap wires to form a teardrop shape as picture shows.

Step 5: Finished the needle tatting earrings

1st, make rest half wings symmetry in the wings in step 3;

2nd, put the extra wires and nylon cord backward to the hole of the acrylic bead, and wrap wires at the first wing;
3rd, attach a earring hook to the loop as picture shows.
