Free Project on Making a Butterfly Necklace with Pearls and Glass Beads

Today I would like to introduce you a DIY project on making a felt butterfly necklace with glass beads and pearl beads. This butterfly necklace looks elegant and feminine, which will be favored by girls.

Necessities for butterfly necklace:

Yellow felt
Yellow sewing thread
4mm Pink suede cord
Orange drop glass beads
Black rice shaped glass beads
6mm white glass pearls
6mm clear bicone glass beads
6mm green bicone glass beads
Black jump ring
Lobster claw
Red copper cross chain
Needle
Round nose plier
Flat nose plier
Wire cutter

Instructions on making a butterfly necklace with beads:

Step 1: Make the flowery pattern on butterfly wings

1st, outline butterfly pattern on to yellow felt and cut out 2 such patterns;
2nd, mark flowery patterns onto felt;
3rd, sew black beads onto the marked places;
4th, add glass pearls and finish the beaded flowery pattern;
5th, repeat to make such flowery pattern on left wing;
6th, in the same way to finish the bicone bead pattern on both wings.

Step 2: sew butterfly body

1st, cut a 15cm length of suede cord and fold it in half;
2nd, sew up the two butterfly pattern together;
3rd, place folded suede cord onto the middle line of felt butterfly;
4th, sew and wrap the suede cord.

Step 3: Finish the butterfly necklace

1st, sew up the wings together with basting stitches;
2nd, at the wing’s top, sew a 20cm length of chain in;
3rd, stuff some cottons into right wing and finish the sewing;
4th, continue to sew up the left wing;
5th, attach lobster claw to the end link of chain.
