How to Make Two-Tone Orchid Flower Hair Ties with Beads

I dare not say that the hair flower I made this time looks a lot like orchid because my aim is to make it simple. However, a purple and white orchid species is my source of inspiration. The glossy purple bead in the center of the flower makes the hair tie more elegant. If you are interested in making this two-tone flower hair tie, read on!

Materials and tools for making a two-tone orchid flower hair tie:

Felt (Purple & Beige)
Acrylic Bead Imitation Pearl
Sewing Threads (Indigo & Beige)
Hair Tie
Needle
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

How to make a two-tone orchid flower hair tie with beads?

Step 1: make a purple petal

1st, cut out five strips from beige felt measuring 6cm and five strips from purple felt measuring 8cm;
2nd, take one purple strip and fold the right side downwards from the middle, make sure the right side is perpendicular to the left side. There will be an overlapped right triangle;
3rd, fold the right side downwards again along the median of the overlapped right triangle;
4th, running stitch the bottom sides to make a petal.

Step 2: make two flowers

1st, use the same way to running stitch another four petals;
2nd, pull the thread tightly and sew both ends to make a purple flower;
3rd, do the same to make a beige flower;
4th, sew the beige flower over the purple flower.

Step 3: add bead and hair tie

1st, sew or glue an imitation pearl at the center of the flowers;
2nd, attach the hair tie to the backside of the flowers with covering a strip of felt. You can attach it by gluing or sewing as you like, but remember to secure it firmly no matter which method you choose.
