Supplies needed for making the 12-string friendship bracelet:
Resin Rhinestone Beads
1mm Nylon Thread
Ribbon Ends
Lobster Claw Clasp
Jumpring
Tape (assistive)
Lighter (optional)
Wire Cutting Pliers
Scissors
How to start the macrame bracelet with beads?
Step 1: Prepare the 12 strings and clamp with a ribbon end
1st, cut 12 pieces of 1mm nylon thread to approximately 40cm long;
2nd, align the strings by cutting the starting 1~2mm part;
3rd, put the starting 1~2cm part of all strings onto the tape;
4th, fold the tape to cover the part;
5th, keep 1/3 of the tape part (twice the width of selected ribbon end);
6th, fold the remaining 1/3 part and then clamp with a ribbon end;
7th, squeeze the ribbon end with pliers;
8th, remove the excess tape and slightly seal the edges with lighter.
Step 2: Make the macrame bracelet pattern with beads
1st, separate the strings into left and right groups;
2nd, on the left group, direct the left-most string (working end) rightwards over the rest five strings (working ends). Make a double half hitch knot with five working ends. Then, to the same with strings in right group;
3rd, slide one 12mm resin rhinestone bead on the two holding ends;
4th, bring the holding end over the working ones to leftwards (or rightwards). Then make a double half hitch knot with each working end;
5th, cross the 10 working ends into a netted pattern;
6th, repeat the 2nd procedure to complete the netted pattern;
7th, repeat the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th procedures to get a desired length for your bracelet.
Step 3: Finish macrame and attach the other ribbon end
1st, in the last unit, stop before netting the 10 working ends;
2nd, keep 1~3cm long at ends;
3rd, as what did in the 1st step, you’ll need to tape the ends firstly, then cut the extra tape and fold it in half, finally clamp with the ribbon end and remove the excess.
Step 4: Attach the clasp
Attach the clasp and one jumpring onto two ribbon ends.
Done!
And the other piece is a Beaded Bracelet made by our partner Amber, which one is more your style? ; )
Macrame knots are easy to create and make for functional additions to friendship bracelet, in particular, the double half hitch knot while making today’s macrame bracelet with resin rhinestone beads. Though it is sort of time-consuming, each crafter can handle it easily! It always seems impossible until it’s done. So, just try it!
