Tutorial on Making a Folded Red Ribbon Hair Clip with Beads for Christmas

Have you ever spent much money on pretty hair clips? Actually, you can create them by hands! Making ribbon hair clips is really simple and very inexpensive. For making this hair clip, I folded the red ribbon into six ruffles and glued beads in different colors. I didn’t use unitary green beads in order to make it more versatile rather than suitable for Christmas only.

Materials and tools for making a Christmas folded red ribbon hair clip:

8mm Acrylic Beads Imitation Pearl, Round, Mixed Color
18mm Fabric Covered Buttons, Star
37mm Satin Ribbon, Red
Sewing Thread (Not Use)
Hair Barrette
Needle
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

How to make a Christmas folded red ribbon hair clip?

Step 1: make a folded ribbon

1st, cut out a strip of red ribbon measuring 18cm. Fold one end 1cm upwards, then fold the long tail backwards to make a 2.5cm long ruffle and pinch it;
2nd, measuring 2.5cm, then fold the long tail downwards to make an opposite ruffle;
3rd, do the same to make another opposite 2.5cm long ruffle. Glue each ruffle for securing;
4th, continue until you get six counter ruffles. Fold the end 1cm inwards and secure with glue.

Step 2: add beads

1st, choose one side as front side, then glue two star fabric covered buttons at the fold lines;
2nd, glue a row of imitation pearls in different colors at one end;
3rd, glue some beads on each ruffle;
4th, glue a hair barrette at the backside of the folded ribbon.
