Easy Tutorial on Making a Multi-strand String and Bead Bracelet
Summary: Here is a tutorial on how to make a multi-strand bracelet with vivid neon beads and vintage turquoise beads. Wonder what the final string bracelet pattern is? Just keep reading and have a try later!
When making a traditional knotted string bracelet that features some distinctive characters, the role of beads and charms can't be ignored. In this project, I will show you how to make a simple layered string bracelet with neon rubber style glass beads and elegant turquoise (or turquoise color) bead. Easy but attractive!
Supplies needed for making the multi-strand bracelet:
8mm Rubber Style Glass Beads
6mm Rubber Style Glass Beads
6mm Turquoise Gemstone Bead
1mm Cowhide Leather Cord
Scissors
How to make the string bracelet?
Step 1: Prepare the string and make first bracelet part
1st, cut four 60cm pieces of cowhide leather cord;
2nd, align one end of four cords and tie an overhand knot at 7cm from the starting;
3rd, braid a 4-strand braid measures about 5~8cm long. Finally, secure with another overhand knot.
Step 2: Decide the string bracelet pattern and make first bead strand
1st, pick out one cord and string one 8mm neon glass bead;
2nd, hold the bead and then take the cord to wrap one time around the neck;
3rd, thread the cord through the loop downwards;
4th, stop the bead where you want it be and then tighten the cords;
5th, keep adding the 8mm neon glass beads and secure in the same way for a proper length.
Step 3: Make the rest bead and knot strands
Replace the 8mm neon glass beads with 6mm turquoise beads for the rest 3 branches.
Step 4: Complete the knotted bracelet
1st, knot the four beaded strings with another overhand knot;
2nd, make the same 4-string braid as starting;
3rd, overlap the two braids and make 5~7 square knots as closure by using an extra leather cord;
4th, adorn the tails with 6mm beads;
5th, keep 1cm and trim off the excess cord ends!
Done!
The final adjustable square knots allow the bracelet get larger so that it’s easier to put on and take off. However, if you’d like a more common closure, try the combination of loop and bead in my previous string and bead bracelet projects! Hope you’ll like it!
