Tutorial on Making Hot Air Balloon Bag Accessory with Various Felts

Don’t you want to decorate your old handbags (or rucksacks)? Decoration is a great way to make them reappear in brand-new looks. This tutorial is going to show you the detailed instructions about making a colorful hot air balloon pendant. 

Materials for this hot air balloon bag accessory:

Skyblue Felt

Red Felt

6mm Suede Cord

How to make the hot air balloon bag accessory:

Step 1: Make colorful hot air balloon

1st, draw the balloon and basket in your desired size on brown felts;

2nd, cut them out and divide the balloon into 5 rows as picture shows;

3rd, every row contains 3 parts, that is, choose the felts of your favorite colors, and cut out the parts;

4th, glue them onto balloon felt row by row.

Step 2: Combine hot air balloon with basket

1st, punch double holes on the top of one basket felt (the other is set aside);

2nd, punch holes on the bottom of colorful balloon;

3rd, cut two 18cm lengths of black thread and tie an overhand knot after threading them through one hole on the basket felt;

4th, twist the black threads together in 4cm length and thread them through the corresponding hole on the balloon felt;

5th, tie another overhand knot and cut off excess threads;

6th, in the same way handle the other side.

Step 3: Finish the basket

1st, cut eight earth-colored felt stripes in 3mm width;

2nd, three are used as rows and 5 as columns;

3rd, glue them onto basket felt (the one set aside in step 2).

4th, cut a small piece of suede cord, loop it and sew it onto balloon felt;

5th, cut a small patch of dark brown felt and glue it to the back of balloon;

6th, attach jump ring to the suede cord loop and add a lobster claw.
